Welcome Party

Thank you so much for coming to celebrate our wedding with us! Please allow us to welcome you with delicious food and drinks while we all hang out and relax. We’ve reserved the open area behind the Villas at Koru Village. Please bring a lawn chair to sit in.

Ceremony

Meet us at Koru Village Beach Klub for our oceanfront ceremony! Doors open at 4:30pm and our coordinators will help direct you down the boardwalk to the ceremony. There is plenty of parking in front of the Beach Klub.

Please no personal cameras or phones during the ceremony.

Reception

The cocktail hour will begin immediately after the ceremony. Head back up the private boardwalk to the pool area to the cocktail hour and reception. The Tiki Bar opens at this time and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Dinner, cake, and dancing will follow. The pool is closed during the ceremony and reception.

Please note that traffic on the islands are heaviest on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-6pm and can add hours to your trip. Plan to enter the islands before or after these times to avoid traffic.

Our Story

How We Met

We met in 2012 through a meetup group, Triad Twenty-Somethings. Kristen set up a bowling event for the group and Bryan attended. He was one of the first people to arrive and we spent the majority of the night talking, even in the parking lot after everyone was done bowling for the evening. When Kristen left, she knew she wanted to get to know Bryan better. We hung out again together with the group that following weekend, then Bryan asked her on our first date that evening. We started dating on July 1, 2012 and have been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal

We took a trip to Duck, NC in May 2015 to celebrate Kristen's graduation from school and to spend a week together. We always try to have a week just to ourselves every year. One morning, Bryan asked if Kristen wanted to go watch and take pictures of the sunrise. It was chilly and windy that morning, but absolutely gorgeous. Bryan asked Kristen to close her eyes. When she opened them and turned around, he was on one knee with a ring in hand. On the sand was a heart with “Will you marry me?” written inside it. Of course, she said yes!

Why The Beach?

Choosing the beach as the place we were going to get married was not a hard decision for us. Our first trip together was to the Outer Banks and we got engaged at the Outer Banks. We also try to take at least a week together at the Outer Banks every year. We’re beach people if you couldn’t tell, and we would both like to live at the beach one day!

Accommodations

There are several hotels within 10 minutes of Koru Village. We recommend you book your room early as they will fill up quickly. We also highly recommend you come in on Friday. Traffic will be heavy, but not as heavy as on Saturday.
